CHAMAN: Following recent tensions at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, which led to its temporary closure, the Chaman border has now been partially reopened, allowing stranded trucks and containers to return to Pakistan from Afghanistan.

According to official sources, 3,291 individuals and 506 families crossed from Pakistan into Afghanistan during the border closure.

Speaking to Quetta Voice, Chaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Nafees Jan Achakzai said that both neighboring countries should resolve their issues through mutual understanding. He added that hundreds of goods-laden trucks are still stranded across the border, carrying fresh fruits and essential food items, causing traders losses worth millions of rupees.

“We urge the government to fully restore trade activities at the Chaman border to prevent further economic damage,” Achakzai emphasized.

Meanwhile, the district administration has provided all basic facilities in the refugee camp established for Afghan migrants near the border.
