Chaghi Police Destroy Over 10 Acres of Poppy Crop Near Pak-Afghan Border

CHAGAI (Web Desk): In a significant anti-narcotics operation, police in Chaghi district destroyed more than ten acres of illegal poppy cultivation near the Pak-Afghan border area of Brabcha. The operation was led by SP Chagai Muhammad Sharif, who personally supervised the drive to eliminate the narcotics-producing crop.

According to police officials, the operation targeted vast poppy fields spread over more than ten acres. Using heavy machinery, the police destroyed the illegal poppy cultivation and took several individuals into custody.

SP Muhammad Sharif emphasized that poppy cultivation is strictly banned in Balochistan, and law enforcement agencies have been fully mobilized to eradicate it. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found cultivating poppy. “No one will be allowed to grow poppy in any part of the district. The crop will be destroyed, and the cultivators will face prosecution,” he said.

He further urged the public to assist police by reporting any cases of illegal poppy cultivation or narcotics trade in their areas.

Meanwhile, residents of Chaghi demanded equal enforcement of the law, calling for actions against both influential and poor individuals involved in the illegal trade. They stressed that ignoring powerful cultivators while punishing only the weak would be a grave injustice, adding that “the law should be equal for everyone.”
