Quetta: A review meeting on the progress of Grant-in-Aid developmental projects for FY 2024–25 was held under the chairmanship of Advisor to the Chief Minister Balochistan for Local Government & Rural Development, Nawabzada Mir Amir Hamza Zehri. The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government Abdul Rauf Baloch, Director General Muhammad Ayub Qureshi, Secretary Balochistan Local Board Shujaat Ali, senior officials of the Local Government Department, and chief officers of municipal committees, district councils, and metropolitan corporations across the province.

 

Addressing the meeting, the Advisor emphasized that the Local Government Department must utilize all available resources for the timely and quality completion of ongoing developmental projects. He instructed officials to immediately finalize all schemes facing delays and directed municipal committees to convene their meetings without postponement to ensure effective planning for resolving public issues.

 

He stressed that negligence or obstruction in completing the approved projects under the Grant-in-Aid 2024–25 would not be tolerated. He directed officers to accelerate developmental activities and prioritize public welfare schemes.

 

Secretary Local Government Abdul Rauf Baloch stated that the overall progress on the Grant-in-Aid projects for FY 2024–25 is satisfactory, though there is room for improvement. He instructed immediate convening of municipal committee meetings to enhance responsiveness to public needs. He added that consultations are underway regarding the expected date of the Grant-in-Aid Council Meeting for FY 2025–26. He reaffirmed that efficient, transparent, and timely utilization of developmental funds is essential, and any negligence or delay is unacceptable.

 

A detailed review of ongoing projects across various districts was also conducted, with directions issued to ensure field presence and timely completion of all schemes based on public needs.
