Syed Muhammad Qaseem: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, met a delegation from the Mines Owners Association on Monday to discuss the provincial government’s historic decision to grant the mining sector industry status. The delegation praised the move as a “forward-looking policy” that will boost investment, job creation, and economic growth in Balochistan.

During the meeting, key issues including the establishment of a Chamber of Mines, provision of land, investment opportunities, and solutions to sectoral challenges were discussed in detail.
CM Bugti highlighted that this initiative will provide better protection and welfare for miners, strengthen the mining policy framework, and attract local and international investors. He stressed that the mining sector is vital for Balochistan’s development and emphasized transparency, modern technology, and international-standard monitoring mechanisms.
The Chief Minister also noted ongoing efforts to improve workers’ safety, health standards, and rescue mechanisms, while curbing illegal mining and ensuring transparency in mining leases.
The delegation appreciated the government’s initiatives, including rescue centers for workers in Chamlang and Duki, and sectoral reforms to protect workers’ rights. They described the policies as “timely measures” that will enhance confidence and stability in the Balochistan mining industry.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, MPA Prince Agha Umar Ahmedzai, ACS Interior, Secretary Mines, DG Mines, and other officials.
