News Desk: Security forces killed 10 terrorists, including a key commander, during two separate intelligence-based operations conducted in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan’s Kalat district, the military said on Thursday.

According to officials, the first operation was carried out on December 24 in the Kulachi area of DI Khan. Troops surrounded the location and opened fire after militants attempted to resist. Two terrorists were killed, one identified as Dilawar, a wanted figure linked to several attacks and carrying a Rs4 million bounty. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the scene.

In another operation the same day, security forces acted on intelligence reports about militants associated with the group referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan in Kalat. During the exchange of fire, eight suspected militants described as Indian-backed were shot dead, and a significant quantity of weapons and explosives was seized.

Authorities said a clearance operation is continuing in the area to track down any remaining accomplices. They added that the ongoing counterterrorism drive will proceed until foreign-supported militancy is eliminated.

Earlier in the month, 12 militants were killed in a similar operation in Kalat. Pakistan has also reported a rise in terrorism-related deaths, ranking second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, while recent studies point to increased militant activity alongside intensified security responses.
