Syed Muhammad Qaseem:
The Regional Meteorological Center has cautioned that a new weather system moving across Balochistan from December 29 to December 31 is expected to trigger spells of rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms in several districts. Snowfall has already been reported at Kan Mehtarzai, Toba Kakari and Kozak Top between late Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The advisory adds that the system could extend to multiple districts, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan.
While Monday is likely to remain largely cold and dry, the northern belt may see harsher temperatures. Overnight, some areas could experience short bursts of rain with thunder and strong winds, along with light snowfall over nearby hills.
By Wednesday, cold and partly cloudy weather is expected across much of the province, with another round of rain, thunderstorms and snowfall over higher elevations likely in several districts.
Several parts of the province recorded rainfall during the past 24 hours, while Kalat registered the lowest temperature at minus 2°C, indicating that the cold wave remains intact.
Officials have urged residents to remain cautious, warning of slippery roads, limited visibility and possible disruptions, especially in regions vulnerable to snowfall.
