News Desk: The Balochistan government has decided to launch a strict crackdown on unlicensed and substandard child nurseries operating across the province to ensure child safety and protect parents’ trust, Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said on Friday.

Taking notice of a serious and disturbing incident involving the alleged swapping of a child at a private nursery in Quetta, the health minister ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. He said the case has been handed over to the Balochistan Healthcare Commission to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation.

Bakht Muhammad Kakar said DNA testing has also been ordered to establish the child’s identity and uncover all facts, adding that the measure is aimed at delivering justice to the affected family and removing any doubts surrounding the case.

The provincial health minister made it clear that a zero-tolerance policy will be strictly enforced against unregistered and non-compliant child nurseries. He warned that no negligence related to child protection would be tolerated and that those undermining parents’ confidence would face action without discrimination.

He further directed the authorities to carry out a comprehensive inspection of all child nurseries across Balochistan and to fast-track the licensing process so that only institutions meeting prescribed standards and legal requirements are allowed to operate.

Bakht Muhammad Kakar cautioned that nursery owners found violating the law would face strict legal action, stressing that no leniency would be shown in this regard.
