Islamabad: The Speaker of the National Assembly has formally accepted the resignation of senior politician and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Akhtar Mengal, bringing an official end to his tenure in the lower house of parliament.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal, who was elected from the Khuzdar constituency, had submitted his resignation from the National Assembly in 2024. After completion of procedural requirements, the resignation has now been approved, parliamentary sources confirmed.

Following the acceptance, relevant authorities have been notified, and the Khuzdar National Assembly seat has been declared vacant. The development paves the way for further steps in line with electoral laws and parliamentary rules.

Akhtar Mengal, a prominent political figure from Balochistan, has remained an influential voice on provincial rights and national political matters. His departure from the National Assembly is being viewed as a significant moment in the country’s parliamentary landscape, particularly in the context of Balochistan’s representation at the federal level.

Political observers believe the move could have implications for future political alignments and electoral dynamics in the province.
