Islamabad:In a major development regarding the restoration of medical seats under the HEC quota, Khyber Medical University (KMU) has reportedly allocated around 150 MBBS and BDS seats for students.

Student representatives say the number may increase further if additional seats are provided by major medical colleges, including Khyber Medical College (KMC) and Ayub Medical College.
According to sources involved in the discussions, if some seats are added from these institutions and dental colleges, the total number of restored seats could exceed 170.
BUMHS Gives Green Signal
In the latest positive development, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences (BUMHS) has reportedly given a green signal to provide seats for the restoration of the HEC quota, which could further strengthen efforts to resolve the issue.
Talks With Balochistan Government
Student leader Rahat Veer also contacted the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Balochistan regarding the provision of HEC quota seats for Balochistan and Ex-FATA students.
According to him, the Principal Secretary assured that the matter will be taken up and worked upon with relevant authorities.
Sources say that if Balochistan stakeholders cooperate, more than 50 additional seats may also be provided.
Students Protest Outside PMDC
Meanwhile, a group of students has staged a sit-in protest outside the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) demanding the restoration of HEC quota medical seats.
One student protester warned that legal action may be taken if the PMDC fails to restore the seats under the HEC quota.
The issue gained national attention after reserved medical seats for students from Ex-FATA and Balochistan were reduced, affecting hundreds of aspiring medical students across Pakistan.
