Pishin: A large opposition rally in Pishin turned into a strong show of political resistance, with leaders criticizing the government and announcing a countrywide protest movement for the protection of public rights.
Addressing the gathering, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Chief Tahafuz e Aien Pakistan Movement said that the alleged theft of the public mandate would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He announced the launch of a nationwide protest campaign aimed at restoring democratic rights and protecting the will of the people. He warned that continued constitutional violations and political instability were pushing the country towards destruction, adding that no compromise would be made on fundamental political principles. He also stressed that all nationalities in Pakistan deserve equal rights and that Pashtuns would defend their resources and identity through democratic means.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa delivered a strong speech, stating that leadership that bows before foreign powers cannot represent the people. He criticized decisions made behind closed doors and termed them against democratic values. Afridi also called for an end to injustices in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging authorities to respect the rights of the people.
Other political leaders also addressed the rally, criticizing actions against political workers and calling the current setup an illegitimate government lacking public support. The gathering concluded with a unified demand for constitutional supremacy, justice, and the restoration of the true mandate of the people.
