News Desk: A 1.02-kilometer blacktop road from Chaman Phatak to Kohla Phatak has been completed in just 76 days at a cost of Rs308.63 million, saving Rs29.73 million from the original estimate of Rs338.36 million, officials said on Thursday.
The project, inaugurated by Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta, is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity for thousands of residents in Airport Road, Shehbaz Town, Model Town, and nearby localities.
According to the Communications and Works Department, the road was completed within a short timeframe while maintaining quality standards. The initiative is part of broader efforts to expand urban infrastructure in response to the city’s growing population and transport needs.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said the timely completion of the project reflects improved governance and institutional efficiency. He highlighted the cost savings as a sign of transparency and responsible use of public funds, adding that such projects aim to provide safer and more efficient travel facilities to citizens.
Bugti also announced that the Chaman Phatak to Kohla Phatak road will be expanded into a dual carriageway to further accommodate increasing traffic flow.
Speaking to the media, he noted that construction work had faced delays due to a security incident near Model Town but assured that efforts are underway to reopen the affected routes at the earliest. He added that a connected road project would be completed within 70 days.
The chief minister appreciated the performance of the Communications and Works Department Balochistan, stating that it delivered the project efficiently despite limited resources.
He further said that while the overall law and order situation in Balochistan is improving, the government is working on a comprehensive strategy to address rising street crime. He reiterated that transparency in development spending and public welfare would remain key priorities of the provincial government.
Senior officials, including Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove and IG Police Mohammad Tahir Khan, were also present at the event.
