Qaseem Shah:

Quetta (May 6, 2026) — In a decisive move to ensure accountability, Quetta police have arrested three officers and registered an FIR against them after they allegedly shot dead a young man in a controversial chase two days ago.

The incident occurred when a black Toyota Mark-X failed to stop for a police mobile. Officers opened fire on the vehicle, killing one of the occupants.

Following public concern over the incident, DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat immediately formed an inquiry committee headed by SSP SCW to investigate the matter. After receiving the committee’s report, the DIG ordered the registration of an FIR against the involved personnel.

Confirming the action, DIG Imran Shaukat said three policemen have been arrested.

Speaking firmly on the issue, the DIG warned:

“The police are meant to serve and protect the people — not to misuse their powers. Any officer found crossing the line will be dealt with strictly and made an example of.”

He added that the police take an oath to safeguard citizens, and any high-handedness or abuse of authority will not be tolerated.

The swift action has been welcomed by many in Quetta, who see it as a positive step toward restoring public trust in law enforcement.
