Web Desk: A tragic traffic accident on the RCD Highway N-40 near Dhadar Landhi, close to Dalbandin in Chagai District, claimed the lives of at least 10 passengers and left five others critically injured on Friday.
According to district officials, the deadly collision occurred when a trailer travelling from Quetta to Taftan crashed into a Toyota Fielder coming from Taftan towards Quetta on the busy RCD Highway.
Rescue sources said all the victims were travelling in the passenger vehicle, which was reportedly carrying around 15 passengers at the time of the accident. The deceased belonged to various cities, including Lahore, Jhelum, Mianwali and Islamabad.
The injured and bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dalbandin by the Chagai district administration. Hospital sources confirmed that several of the injured remain in critical condition.
Police have arrested the trailer driver and started an investigation into the Chagai road accident. Authorities are examining the cause of the crash, including possible overspeeding and negligence.
The RCD Highway connecting Quetta and Taftan is considered one of the busiest routes in Balochistan and has witnessed several fatal traffic accidents in recent years due to reckless driving and poor road safety measures.
