Quetta, May 30, 2026: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has expressed satisfaction over the successful arrival of South Air’s first flight at Gwadar International Airport, calling it a significant step toward improving regional connectivity and economic development in the province.
In a statement issued on Friday, the chief minister said the launch of South Air’s services would strengthen air links between Gwadar and several major cities across Pakistan, making travel more accessible for residents, businesses, and visitors.
According to the provincial government, the airline is expected to connect Gwadar with Turbat, Panjgur, Quetta, Sukkur, Lahore, Islamabad, and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, helping bridge long-standing transportation gaps in the region.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said improved air connectivity would play an important role in boosting tourism, trade, investment, and broader business activities in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar, which is increasingly emerging as a strategic centre for maritime trade and regional economic cooperation.
He added that better transportation infrastructure and expanded flight operations would support local economic growth and create new employment opportunities for communities across the province.
The chief minister also described the successful trial and operational progress at New Gwadar International Airport as a positive sign for Balochistan’s development and a reflection of growing economic activity in the region.
