QUETTA: The Provincial Secretariat of Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PKNAP) has strongly condemned the alleged disclosure of personal information and contact details of renowned physician, social activist, and women’s rights advocate Dr. Shazia Khpalwak, describing the incident as deeply alarming and a serious violation of privacy, civil liberties, and fundamental human rights.

In an official statement, the party said the alleged data leak, privacy breach, and exposure of Dr. Shazia Khpalwak’s personal information have raised serious concerns regarding the protection of citizens’ private data, cybersecurity safeguards, and the rule of law in Balochistan.

PKNAP noted that the incident comes at a time when Dr. Shazia Khpalwak has been at the forefront of demanding justice, transparency, accountability, and an impartial investigation into the attack on Dr. Mah Noor Nasir. Under such circumstances, the party argued, the public disclosure of her private information cannot be dismissed as a mere coincidence and requires an immediate, transparent, and independent inquiry.

The statement emphasized that women, journalists, lawyers, political workers, human rights defenders, and civil society activists in the province already face various forms of intimidation, harassment, threats, and insecurity. In such an environment, the exposure of a female doctor’s private information poses a direct threat to her personal safety and sends a negative message regarding freedom of expression, women’s rights, digital privacy, and democratic values.

Criticizing the provincial government and relevant authorities, PKNAP stated that failure to protect citizens’ personal data reflects institutional weaknesses and governance failures. The public has the right to know how Dr. Shazia Khpalwak’s information was leaked, who was responsible, and why no effective action has been taken against those involved.

The party described Dr. Shazia Khpalwak as not only a respected medical professional but also a symbol of humanitarian service, women’s empowerment, and social justice. It stressed that safeguarding her dignity, security, and fundamental rights is the responsibility of both the state and society.

PKNAP warned that any harassment, threats, psychological pressure, or physical harm directed at Dr. Shazia Khpalwak would place full responsibility on the government and concerned state institutions.

The statement further highlighted that attempts to discourage women from participating in public, social, and political life through fear and intimidation are unacceptable. Women’s active participation is essential for democracy, equality, and social progress, and incidents of this nature undermine public confidence and increase feelings of insecurity.

The party demanded the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to conduct an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation into the alleged data breach. It also called for strict legal action against those responsible and stronger protection measures for women, journalists, political activists, and human rights defenders.

Concluding the statement, PKNAP pledged to raise the issue on every democratic, constitutional, legal, and political forum and urged civil society, journalists, lawyers, students, youth, and human rights organizations to unite in defense of human rights, women’s safety, digital security, privacy rights, and civil freedoms to prevent similar incidents in the future.
