KALAT: In a tragic development, the tortured body of an Airports Security Force (ASF) deputy director, who was abducted nearly a month ago in Balochistan’s Kalat district, has been recovered, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.

According to authorities, the victim, 58-year-old Muhammad Waseem, was a resident of Karachi and served as Deputy Director in the Airports Security Force. He was kidnapped on May 20, 2026, along with a companion by unidentified armed men near Muhammad Tawa, an area located approximately 40 kilometers from Kalat, while travelling from Quetta to Karachi.

Police said Waseem’s body was found bearing signs of severe torture, raising fresh concerns about the deteriorating security situation on key highways in Balochistan. The whereabouts and condition of the second abducted individual remain unclear.

The incident has sparked grief and outrage, with calls for authorities to intensify efforts to bring those responsible to justice and improve security for travelers in the province.

The killing highlights the ongoing security challenges in parts of Balochistan, where incidents of kidnappings, targeted attacks, and highway insecurity continue to pose serious concerns for residents and travelers alike.
