QUETTA: Mohammad Hashim Norzai, owner of the well-known Kabul Jan Restaurant in Quetta, was killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle early Saturday, according to police.
Police said the incident occurred near Usmania Hotel on Kuchlak Bypass, within the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station.
According to investigators, Norzai, a resident of Wazirabad, Kuchlak, was travelling alone in his private vehicle from his home towards Quetta when unknown assailants intercepted him and fired multiple shots before fleeing the area.
Officers responding to the scene found several bullet marks on the victim’s vehicle. Evidence has been collected, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack.
Witnesses told local media that emergency responders arrived some time after the shooting. Norzai was later taken to Civil Hospital Quetta, where doctors confirmed his death.
A hospital official said the victim sustained three gunshot wounds, including one to the head, which proved fatal.
Police said the victim’s family informed investigators that they were unaware of any personal disputes or threats against him. Authorities have not announced any arrests, and all possible angles are being examined.
Mohammad Hashim Norzai was a well-known businessman in Quetta. He opened Kabul Jan Restaurant on Airport Road in October last year, and the restaurant quickly gained popularity among residents for its Afghan cuisine and hospitality.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
