TURBAT: July 30, 2026: The bodies of six laborers who were reportedly abducted two days earlier in Kech district have been recovered, authorities and local sources said on Thursday.
According to Balochistan Home Department Adviser Babar Yousafzai, the victims were recovered from the Nasirabad area. Four of the deceased were from Punjab, while two belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Local sources said the laborers were travelling toward a worksite in a Suzuki vehicle when armed men intercepted their vehicle in the Kalatak area. A contractor from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who had reportedly been residing in Turbat for several decades, was also travelling with the workers.
The contractor was allegedly killed after resisting the attackers during the abduction, according to local accounts.
Following the recovery, the bodies of the six laborers were transported to Teaching Hospital Turbat, where medical authorities are expected to conduct post-mortem examinations before the bodies are handed over to their families.
The incident has triggered condemnation from the Balochistan government. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti described the killings as an inhuman act of terrorism and expressed sympathy with the victims’ families.
The chief minister said the government would take steps to identify and apprehend those responsible, stressing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
The killings have raised fresh concerns about the security of workers travelling to remote areas of Balochistan, particularly in districts where armed groups have previously targeted civilians and security personnel.
Authorities said further details about the investigation and the identities of those involved would emerge as the inquiry progresses.
