QUETTA: The National Party (NP) has announced a nationwide campaign to oppose the proposed creation of new administrative provinces, declaring the move a political distraction.
Addressing a press conference, National Party Chief and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, voiced strong opposition to dividing existing federating units. Terming the creation of new provinces on an administrative basis a “non-issue,” he questioned the sudden push behind the proposal.
”I don’t know why a non-issue is being artificially created,” Dr. Malik stated, warning that his party would actively launch a protest campaign and legally resist any such move. He argued that the current rulers are manufacturing the debate merely to divert public attention away from core national problems.
The nationalist leader further claimed that major political stakeholders across the spectrum share his party’s stance. According to his information, mainstream parties—including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F)—are similarly opposed to altering provincial boundaries on purely administrative grounds.
Reaffirming the National Party’s commitment to provincial autonomy, Dr. Malik vowed to block any efforts aimed at reconfiguring Pakistan’s constitutional structure.
