QUETTA: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of Afghan nationals at Hazar Ganji Cross in the provincial capital late Tuesday night, leaving three dead and one critically injured, according to police officials.
​The incident took place while four Afghan workers, who had recently arrived from the Dalbandin area of Chaghi district, were waiting for transport to travel to Gulistan in Killa Abdullah district. Two masked attackers riding a motorcycle intercepted the group and opened indiscriminate fire before fleeing the scene.
​Confirming the casualties, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khizar Hayat provided key details regarding the investigation:
​Immediate Casualties: Two victims died on the spot, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
​Hospital Fatality: One of the injured victims succumbed to his wounds during treatment, raising the death toll to three.
​Victim Background: Preliminary inquiries indicate the men were day laborers in Dalbandin and were transiting through Quetta. The motive behind the assault remains unknown, and a formal investigation is underway.
