News Desk: Five road construction workers were killed and another was critically injured when armed attackers opened fire on a construction site in Saranan Sulemanzai on Sunday, targeting labourers and machinery involved in a double-road project.
The attack prompted strong condemnation from Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, who expressed grief over the loss of lives and offered condolences to the victims’ families. He said attacks targeting workers and development projects would not be allowed to disrupt peace and development in Balochistan.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind also condemned the incident, expressing solidarity with the bereaved families and stressing that those responsible would be brought to justice.
According to local sources, the attackers opened fire on labourers working on the road project before fleeing the area. The attack spread fear among residents and halted construction activities.
Sources have linked the attack to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), but no group has officially claimed responsibility. The reported attribution has not been independently verified.
Security personnel have launched an investigation into the attack and are collecting evidence to identify the perpetrators.
