QUETTA: At least 56 road accidents were reported across Balochistan in a single day, leaving 69 people injured and one person dead, according to figures released by the Medical Emergency Response Centres (MERC) 1122 Balochistan.
The accidents were reported at different locations across the province, keeping emergency response teams busy throughout the day.
According to the report, road crashes were recorded in several areas, including Quetta, Sibi, Saranan, Washuk, Panjgur, Barkhan and Zhob.
Emergency teams responded to the incidents and provided medical assistance to those injured in the crashes. One of the accidents resulted in a fatality.
The figures offer another worrying reminder of the risks faced by people travelling on Balochistan’s highways and major roads. For many residents, long-distance travel is a daily necessity, making road safety a particularly serious concern.
The continued frequency of crashes highlights the need for motorists to exercise greater caution while authorities strengthen traffic enforcement and road-safety measures, particularly on accident-prone routes.
The latest MERC figures also underline the importance of maintaining a quick and effective emergency response system to ensure that injured people receive timely medical care after road crashes.
