QUETTA: Graduates of medical colleges in Balochistan have called for better opportunities for house jobs, saying young doctors need adequate clinical exposure and training facilities to begin their professional careers effectively.
Students and graduates of Jhalawan, Loralai and Makran Medical Colleges addressed a press conference, where they highlighted concerns surrounding the availability of facilities and teaching resources in government hospitals across the province.
The participants urged the relevant authorities to create more house job positions and training opportunities for newly graduated doctors, particularly those seeking practical experience in government hospitals.
They said improved opportunities for house jobs would not only benefit medical graduates but could also strengthen healthcare services in remote and underserved areas of Balochistan.
Balochistan’s healthcare services face longstanding challenges
The demands come against the backdrop of broader challenges facing the healthcare system in Balochistan, where government hospitals in remote districts often have to serve large populations despite limitations in infrastructure, medical equipment, specialist services and human resources.
For newly graduated doctors, adequate teaching support, clinical facilities and structured house job training are particularly important. Without sufficient training opportunities, medical graduates can face difficulties in gaining the practical experience required for independent clinical practice.
The students therefore appealed to the Balochistan government and health authorities to review the availability of house job seats and ensure that graduates from the province’s medical colleges receive fair and meaningful opportunities for postgraduate clinical training.
They stressed that strengthening medical training and improving government hospital facilities should be treated as part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare delivery across Balochistan.
Students seek government intervention
The participants called for practical measures to expand house job opportunities and improve the training environment in government hospitals.
They maintained that medical graduates should be provided with an environment where they can develop their clinical skills while simultaneously contributing to healthcare services, particularly in areas where medical facilities remain limited.
The students urged the authorities to take their concerns seriously and introduce measures that can address both the employment and training needs of medical graduates and the healthcare requirements of Balochistan’s population of Balochistan’s population.
