Pedestrians allowed to cross Pak Afghan border Chaman

CHAMAN: Pakistani authorities have allowed pedestrians to cross the Pak-Afghan border on humanitarian grounds. The government took notice of the sufferings of the common people and opened the border for pedestrians not for trade, a security official told Quetta Voice.

Thousands of Afghans were stranded due to the closure of the Pak-Afghan border Chaman. Pakistani authorities had closed the border amid reports of Taliban take over bordering areas on Wednesday.

“In this scorching heat, we are waiting for the last two days”, Sirajuddin, an aged Afghan tells Quetta Voice. Thousands of Afghans including women and children were waiting for the opening of the border for the last two days.

Security forces used tear gas to disperse the people who were trying to cross the border forcefully earlier in the day, a security official said. However, a large number of people including women, children, patients, and aged people crossed the border and entered Afghanistan.
