Sardar Attaullah Mengal laid to rest in Wadh

Veteran Baloch nationalist leader, Sardar Attaullah Mengal was laid to rest at his ancestral town Wadh Balochistan on Friday evening. Thousands turned out to offer the funeral prayer of the elderly Baloch leader.

The funeral prayer was offered at government high school Wadh.

Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Maulana Ghafoor Hyderi of JUI (F), Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove, Dr. Hamid Achakzai of PKMAP, Asghar Khan Achakzai of Awami National Party (ANP), Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, and others participated in the funeral.

Sardar Mengal died at the age of 93 years in a private hospital in Karachi on Thursday evening. Sardar Mengal remained the Chief Minister of Balochistan from May 1st, 1972 to February 1973.

Sardar Mengal was the first CM of Balochistan

He was the first elected Chief Minister of Balochistan. His government was overthrown by the then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The Bhutto government also imprisoned Sardar Mengal under the famous Hyderabad conspiracy case along with veteran Pashtoon and Baloch leaders including late Khan Abdul Wali Khan, late Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, and others.
