Massive fraud reported in FA, FSc numbers in Balochistan Board

QUETTA: Massive fraud was reported in FA, FSc and Matric examinations in the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE). The education department formed a four members committee to probe into the irregularities committed during the BBISE examinations.
“The committee has conducted two raids at the board”, a well-placed source within the education department told this scribe. A forensic expert from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is also part of the investigation team probing the irregularities.
“We have collected data of the board and investigating into the matter”, he mentioned. He however stated that the members of the committee were facing pressure from influential government high-ups to halt the process of investigation.
Some officers serving in the BBISE for years
Some officers in the BBISE have been serving for years without any posting and transfers. Although, Naseebullah Marri, the Balochistan Education Minister tells this reporter that the tenure of the Chairman BBISE is going to be completed this December.
“I have no knowledge about any irregularity”, Mr. Marri responded when asked about reported irregularities and violation of merit in examinations. The government has claimed to have given priority to the education sector to improve the plight of government-run schools across the province.

Talk of the town, pay money, and purchase numbers in BBISE. During the last few years, thousands of students were deprived of numbers despite their tireless efforts and sleepless nights. Recently, the BBISE gave more than 90 percent of passed results in the FA and FSc examinations.
“Members of the committee are being pressurized”, another source at the BBISE disclosed. Nevertheless, he says, “nothing would happen”. This is a routine matter, he concluded.
Eduction in general and quality of education in particular paints a bleak picture in Balochistan. The province is lagging behind all other provinces in terms of key social indicators. Education is one of them.
