Kohlu levies arrest a father for selling his newborn daughter

In Balochistan’s Kohlu district, the levies force has arrested a father for selling his newborn daughter. The accused had sold his 20-days old minor daughter, Sher Muhammad Marri, an officer of the levies force said.
The wife had accused her husband of torturing her and snatching the daughter to sell her. “We have recovered the girl and handed over to her mother”, Mr. Marri told reporters in Kohlu on Tuesday.
Where did the incident happen?
According to Sher Muhammad Marri, the incident of selling the minor girl happened in Kohlu district of Balochistan. He said the accused had married another woman and was subjecting the first wife to torture and violence.
The woman alleged that the husband was not giving her proper food and was subjecting her to violence and this she had brought to the notice of the tribal elders. The woman complained that the husband had forced her to leave her home and she had taken refuge in the house of her brother.
Despite assurances before the tribal elders, the husband was beating me, the woman complained.
What was the reported cost of the girl?
Levies sources and local residents of the area said the father had sold his daughter in Rs. 2 lakh. The mother of the minor girl claimed that her husband had written a stamp paper with the man buying her daughter.
Kohlu Administration Action
Sher Muhammad Marri, the levies officer said they have recovered the minor girl and handed her over to the mother. They said levies have also arrested the man who bought the minor girl. The mother of the baby claimed that she was trying to get a divorce from the man. However, the man was not ready to divorce her. The man has been demanding Rs. 1 million for divorcing me, the woman claimed.
