Medical students protest against PMC in Quetta

Medical students staged a protest demonstration against Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) in Quetta. The students took out a protest rally, which passed through different roads of the provincial capital and turned into a protest demonstration at the main Edhi Chowk.
“We strongly reject special exam by the PMC”, Ehsanullah Kakar, a medical student from Jhalawan Medical College said. The PMC has announced special examinations for the students studying in three medical colleges including Mekran, Jhalawan, and Loralai medical colleges of Balochistan.
“This is an injustice with students of Balochistan”, Arbab Nawaz Gazozai, a medical student said. He lamented that the PMC was creating problems for the students of Balochistan.

There was no immediate response on behalf of the PMC. The students chanted full-throated slogans against the PMC and demanded an end to the process of special examination. Besides men, female students were also part of the protest demonstration.
They were also carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against PMC and the government.
Strict security measures were adopted by the district Quetta administration to avert any untoward incident during the protest of students. The medical students have been protesting against the PMC for almost a month in Balochistan. The students have established a protest camp outside Quetta Press Club to mount pressure on the authorities to abandon the plan of special examinations.
