QUETTA: Balochistan government has decided to appoint 8000 teachers soon after the financial budget for the year 2022-23. “Teachers would be recruited through departmental committees”, Abdul Rauf Baloch, Secretary of Education Balochistan told Daily Quetta Voice in an exclusive interview.
When asked about the lack of transparency in the recruitment process, Mr. Baloch stated that the government has determined to recruit teachers on the basis of merit. Earlier, various testing services had conducted recruitment of teachers in Balochistan.

Bizenjo government announces to conduct recruitment through departments rather than testing service
However, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo-led coalition government has decided to conduct the recruitment process of teachers and other employees through departments rather than testing services.
In response to a question about ghost schools, Mr. Baloch said the department has evolved a strategy to make 2800 non-functional schools functional in the province. On an emergency basis, teachers with Rs. 25000 would be appointed to make such schools functional.

450 IT teachers to be recruited through BPSC
Mr. Baloch informed that the process of recruitment for 1453 posts of non-teaching staff in the education department was already underway in the province. He said the department has also sent 450 posts of information technology teachers to the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) recently. Over 200 vacancies of senior science teachers (SSTs) have also been sent to the BPSC, he added.

300 primary schools to be upgraded to middle level
Regarding the degradation of schools, the Secretary of Education said over 300 primary schools would be upgraded to the middle level in the budget for the financial year 2022-23. Middle and high schools would also be upgraded in the province to make sure provision of quality education to the students.
When asked about the promotions of teachers, Mr. Baloch informed that the department has promoted 1600 senior science teachers in the province. “No promotion of teachers for decades this is for the first time”, he mentioned. Secretary Education said junior English teachers were also promoted in Balochistan on the basis of merit and seniority lists.
