QUETTA: Chief of Emergency Operation Cell (EOC), Hameedullah Nasar on Sunday warned of the presence of poliovirus in the environment in Balochistan.
“The polio virus is present in our environment and can target children who are not vaccinated against polio”, Mr. Nasar warned. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to cooperate fully with the polio workers during the polio immunization campaign and to ensure that their children are vaccinated against polio.

An anti-polio campaign would commence in 18 districts of Balochistan from tomorrow (Monday). During the campaign, over 1.2 million children under the age of five years would be provided polio drops, Hameedullah Nasar, the Chief of Emergency Operation Cell (EOC) said on Sunday morning.

The campaign would start in Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Chaman, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Loralai, Khuzdar, Killa Saifullah, Mastung, Sherani, Zhob and other districts of Balochistan. The health department has formed 4,904 teams to ensure the provision of anti-polio drops to the children, Mr. Nasar informed.
All preparations have been completed in connection with the polio campaign. The campaign will include a total of 4904 teams including 3865 mobile teams, 276 transit points and 313 fixed sites. The EOC Chief said that security arrangements have also been made for the campaign.
During the campaign, foolproof security will be provided to all the staff and Balochistan Levies, Police and FC personnel will be deployed to guard polio volunteers.
