Ali Khan Mandokhail:
ZHOB: Cholera claimed two lives and affected over three dozens were affected in Balochistan’s Zhob district on Thursday. Women and children were also affected as cholera spreads in various parts of the district.
“During last two days, we have provided medical treatment to over three dozens of patients”, Dr. Noor ul Haq, the Medical Superintendent of district headquarters hospital Zhob.
Most of the patients were discharged after providing first medical aid and basic treatment. However, the condition of six patients was severe. “We fear a rise in the number of patients in aftermath of flash floods in Zhob”, Dr. Noor ul Haq warned. He said using contaminated water was the major reason behind the spread of cholera in the area.
“No adequate medicines to treat patients”, MS complains
When asked about the availability of the medicines, Mr. Haq informed that the hospital administration was facing problems because of less supply of medicines.
This cholera outbreak has come almost a week after cholera claimed two lives in Balochistan’s Barkhan district. Cholera had also claimed precious human lives in Balochistan’s resource-rich Dera Bugti district.
The government of Balochistan has not taken any notice of the cholera outbreak in Zhob till the filing of this report. Government-run hospitals in remote areas of Balochistan paint a bleak picture when it comes to the availability of doctors and the provision of medicines and medical treatment.
