News Desk:
The flood-affected people blocked the Quetta Karachi highway at the Mughalzai area of Gwadar against the poor relief and rehabilitation activities by the government. The closure of the highway resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road and passengers suffered from difficulties.
Women and children were also present among the flood-affected protesters. It has been more than two months that Kalat is affected by the floods but unfortunately the incumbent government is continuously ignoring us, the flood affectees stated while talking to Daily Quetta Voice.
These areas were badly affected by flash floods and torrential rains of the recent monsoon. People of these areas were waiting for any aid from the government of Balochistan or any Non-government organization (NGO). Most of the population of Kalat belongs to the poor class. Earlier they were affected by droughts and Covid-19. The current monsoon rains and floods further increased their problems.
The main purpose of the protest was to get financial help, relief, and other rehabilitation activities from the government, NGOs, and other donors.
The administration of the Kalat district came to the spot to hold negotiations with the protesters. The administration assured the protesters that their legitimate demands will be approved. After the successful negotiations, the protest peacefully ended.
