QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday declared the two years extension of the Vice-Chancellor Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Khuzdar (BUTEK) as null and void.
A division bench of the BHC comprising Chief Justice Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Mr. Justice Shaukat Ali Rakhshani passed this order on a constitutional petition.
The petitioner had challenged the two years extension given to Ehsanullah Kakar, the VC BUTEK by the then Chancellor/Governor Balochistan. The bench also declared a notification issued on April 20th, 2022 in this regard. The court directed the concerned quarters to make sure the appointment of the vice-chancellor as per the advertisement published in local dailies on 23 October 2022.
The court however allowed the outgoing VC Dr. Ehsanullah Kakar as eligible for the next competition for the post of the VC BUTEK. The tenure of the VC was finished in August 2022.
