100MW power supply from Iran to Gwadar project completed

The provision of a 100-megawatt power supply project from Iran to Gwadar was completed on Sunday. Gwadar currently requires a 130-megawatt power supply to meet its daily demand, an official source told Daily Quetta Voice. It was not possible to make sure provision of power supply to Gwadar for 24 hours.

Pakistan had already signed an agreement with Iran with regard to the provision of a 100-megawatt power supply to Gwadar, the country’s growing port city.

A 138km long transmission line was laid from the Iranian border to Gwadar

To implement the project, a 138 km long transmission line was laid from the Iran border to Gwadar. Frontier Works Organization (FWO) ensured the installation of a 58 km transmission line from the Iran border to the Jiwani grid station and 80 km from the Jiwani to the Gwadar grid station in record time.

This important project will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the domestic and industrial consumers of Gwadar, the official concluded.
