Hassaan Khan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Chief, Imran Khan was handed over to the Punjab police on transit remand on Sunday. A local court ordered handing over Hassaan Khan Niazi s/o Hafeezullah Khan Niazi to Lahore police on the transit remand.
This decision has come after a judicial magistrate granted bail to Hassaan Khan Niazi the other day in a case. Police had arrested Hassaan Niazi for what it claimed was ‘misbehaving’ with police outside the judicial complex in Islamabad, the federal capital.
PTI leaders present outside the court
A large number of PTI Balochistan leaders including Ghaffar Kakar, Noor Khan Khilji, Muhammad Asif Tareen, and others were present outside the court. “Handing over Hassaan Niazi to Punjab police on transit remand is illegal”, Muhammad Asif Tareen, the PTI Balochistan leader said.
PTI lawyers wing’s chief, Syed Iqbal Shah Advocate appeared before the court in this regard.
The Punjab home department had written a letter to the Balochistan home department for the extradition of Niazi. Imran’s nephew was then produced before the judicial magistrate.
Jail administration reluctant to release Hassaa Niazi despite bail from the court: Lawyer
Talking to the media, Niazi’s lawyer Iqbal Shah told the media that the party chairman’s nephew was granted bail a day earlier, stating “under what law has he been sent to jail?”
“We had submitted surety bonds and kept waiting at the jail gate, but Niazi was not released,” Syed Iqbal Shah Advocate added.
The lawyer furthered that the jail administration was “reluctant to take protective bail order yesterday”.
Shah also stated that when the police had no justification to detain his client, the DC issued a detention notification under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
“We want justice”, Abdul Ghaffar Kakar, a provincial PTI leader told Daily Quetta Voice. He said that his party would not be pressed through such tactics rather it would keep continuing its struggle for supremacy of parliament and constitution in the country.
