Members of the Balochistan Assembly have demanded of the federal government to extend the census process for two months. Every individual should be counted in this sparsely populated province of the country, Malik Sikandar Advocate, the opposition leader in BA demanded.

Members from the treasury and opposition benches expressed their reservations about the census and asked the federal government to extend it for two months. “People have not been counted in this areawise the biggest province of the country”, Makhi Sham Laal, a minority lawmaker noted.

Deputy Speaker directs census commissioner to brief lawmakers

The members said that since the province covers half of the country in terms of area, therefore, it was not possible for the census staff to count every individual in such a short span of time.

The Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail who was chairing the session directed the census commissioner to brief the lawmakers about the census process in the province.

Zahoor Buledi lashes out at the government and opposition

Mir Zahoor Buledi, the former senior minister of Balochistan lashed out at the provincial government for what he called its incompetency and corruption. “Youth are committing suicides and the government is sleeping”, Mr. Buledi said.

He said there was a common notion that CM Balochistan is sleeping. Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove rejected Mr. Buledi’s claim and said that the CM was very active and no file of public interest was pending.

If corruption proven in jobs, I will resign: Sardar Khetran

“CM chairs cabinet meetings till Sehri and still people say he is sleeping”, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) said. He however announced that he would announce his resignation if any bribery in services was proved against him.

Later on, the Speaker adjourned the session till April 17.
