SIBI:

Flash floods unleashed by torrential rains swept away the Pinjra bridge in the Bolan mountains. This caused the suspension of traffic between Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

“Teams are working to restore the traffic”, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili said. He said traffic has been stopped at Dhadar and Sibi since rains washed away the bridge.

Long queues of vehicles

Long queues of small and heavy vehicles were witnessed on both sides of the road because of the suspension of traffic. “We are here for the last five hours and there is none to support us”, Abdul Hakeem, a truck driver told the Daily Quetta Voice. Like Abdul Hakeem, hundreds of passengers were stuck in the Sibi and Dhadar areas of Balochistan.

Bridge was repaired on the instructions of PM last year

Floods had earlier swept away the Pinjra bridge last year. The bridge was temporarily constructed on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, recent rains again washed away the bridge linking Balochistan with Sindh and Punjab provinces.

The passengers stuck in various parts of the highway complained about the skyrocketing prices of food items. They demanded of the government to provide food and shelter and make sure of an immediate reopening of the highway.
