The bench directs the continuation of the appointment process
A division bench of the BHC, comprising Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Mr. Justice Amir Rana dismissed the petition filed by the VC SBK, Professor Sajida Noreen. The bench observed that the letter issued by the Governor Balochistan Secretariat cannot be termed illegal. The court directed the government to keep continue the process of recruitment of VCs as per the Balochistan Universities Model Act 2022. Senior lawyer, Akram Shah Advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the VC SBK.
Sajida Noreen’s tenure is scheduled to be expired in 2025
In her petition, Sajida Noreen pleaded that her tenure was scheduled to be expired in 2025. Therefore, the court should terminate the process of interviews conducted by the search committee illegally.
The court however dismissed the petition filed by the VC SBK. Although, Akram Shah Advocate, the counsel for the VC told Daily Quetta Voice that BHC’s order has been challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
