Dr. Zubair Ahmed, the In-Charge Trauma Center, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital fell prey to the deadly virus on Thursday evening. Ahmed was tested positive for the coronavirus a few days back and was admitted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment.

“Dr. Zubair has breathed his last at the hospital”, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman Corona Cell Balochistan told the daily Quetta Voice via telephone.

Dr. Zubair had played a key role in fighting the coronavirus after the outbreak of the pandemic in the province. He was serving the patients at the province’s largest government-run hospital i.e. the BMCH.

As of Thursday, Dr. Zubair is the second doctor dying of the coronavirus. Earlier, Dr. Naeem Agha, the well-known chest physician also lost his life while battling the deadly virus.

In Balochistan, over 150 doctors and over 30 health professionals have been tested positive for the coronavirus so far. Most of the doctors have quarantined themselves at their homes to battle the virus.
