He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club. He reported that the spread of the Congo virus is currently under control, although there are ongoing medical concerns. Caretaker Information Minister Balochistan, Jan Achakzai was also present  on the occasion

Condition of 2 Doctors Critical: Minister

At present, 10 doctors and medical staff are receiving treatment for the Congo virus in a hospital in Karachi. Unfortunately, the condition of 2 doctors, including a female doctor, is critical. To address this issue, measures have been taken to mitigate the risk of the virus spreading further.

To prevent the spread of the virus, a ban on the slaughter of animals at locations other than official slaughterhouses has been imposed, and Section 144 has been enforced. This action is aimed at reducing the risk of transmission of the virus from animals to humans.

Congo Virus Originated at Quetta Hospital

The Congo virus outbreak originated in a ward and department in Quetta Hospital, leading to the infection of 11 doctors and medical staff, with one doctor losing his life. To contain the spread, the hospital initiated a comprehensive cleaning and disinfection process within the affected areas. Infected doctors and staff were transported to Karachi via air ambulance for further treatment, but adverse weather conditions hindered this process.

Tragically, one doctor could not reach the hospital in time due to an unreasonable stop by the Coast Guard in Winder, while being transferred to Karachi by ambulance. Preventing such incidents and ensuring the unimpeded movement of ambulances in critical situations is of utmost importance.

Section 144 Declared To Restrict Slaughter of Animals: Jogezai

Currently, two out of the ten victims being treated in Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi, including one lady doctor, remain in critical condition. These patients have also been in contact with the Sindh Provincial Health Minister for cooperation.

In response to a question, Dr. Jogezai mentioned that the government has fulfilled its promise of issuing health cards, and efforts are ongoing to ensure the availability of medicines. Furthermore, the government has implemented Section 144 to restrict the slaughter of animals to government-designated slaughterhouses.
