QUETTA: Chief of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), Sardar Akhtar Mengal, asserted on Thursday that Governor Balochistan would tender his resignation if Baloch women, who were arrested by Islamabad police, were not released. Speaking at a press conference at his residence, Akhtar Mengal announced that the Governor is scheduled to depart for Islamabad tomorrow to meet with the President and the Caretaker Prime Minister.
Roads Blocked In Quetta Against Arrest Of Baloch Women
A large number of people most of them students also blocked the main Serena Chowk to vent their anger against the arrest of Baloch women. They were demanding an immediate release of Baloch women arrested by Islamabad police.
“If the arrested women are not released, the Governor will submit his resignation,” declared the BNP Chief. Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, and other leaders were also present at the event. It’s noteworthy that the Governor belongs to the BNP Mengal.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal criticized the ruling authorities for neglecting the grievances of the Baloch masses despite repeated calls and protests. “We demand justice,” he emphasized. Responding to questions about resignation, Malik Wali Kakar, the Governor, stated that he would adhere to the party chief’s instructions in this regard.
The BNP Chief strongly condemned the use of force against the protesting Baloch women advocating for missing persons. He expressed disappointment that instead of addressing the concerns of the protesters, Islamabad police resorted to tear gas and baton charges in the capital.
The Baloch nationalist leader urged the federal caretaker government to ensure the immediate release of the arrested women and children and to address the broader issue of missing persons in the country.
