QUETTA:Â In a year-end review, the judiciary in Balochistan reflects on the challenges and accomplishments of 2023, revealing notable changes in caseloads and case resolutions across various courts.
As of January 1, 2023, the Balochistan High Court had 4,472 pending cases. Throughout the year, an additional 6,920 cases were brought forward, showcasing the continuous flow of legal matters in the region. Impressively, by December 31, 2023, 6,640 cases were successfully decided, marking a substantial effort by the judiciary to address the backlog.
Pending Cases 4,952 in Balochistan
The total number of pending cases in Balochistan High Court, which includes the Circuit Bench Sabi and Circuit Bench Turbat, stood at 4,952 by the end of the year. This figure reflects the ongoing commitment of the higher judiciary to handle cases efficiently and uphold the rule of law in the province.
On the subordinate level, the Sharia judiciary faced a significant caseload with 16,020 pending cases at the beginning of 2023. Over the year, 59,541 new cases were filed, underlining the substantial demand for legal intervention. In response to this surge, the subordinate judiciary demonstrated its dedication, concluding 57,743 cases by the end of December 31, 2023.

As Balochistan heads into the new year, the judiciary remains committed to addressing the challenges posed by increasing caseloads and continuing its mission to dispense justice impartially and efficiently.
