QUETTA: In a pivotal move towards ensuring the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections, Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki, chaired a comprehensive review meeting attended by officials and commissioners to assess the law and order situation in the province. The meeting also aimed to evaluate the measures taken to facilitate peaceful elections in Balochistan.

Addressing the gathering, Caretaker Chief Minister Domki highlighted the ongoing preparations for a peaceful, transparent, and impartial election process in Balochistan. Notable among the initiatives is the installation of CCTV cameras at the most sensitive polling stations. To bolster security efforts, the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps will collaborate with the police and Levies in sensitive areas.

CCTV Cameras To Be Installed At Sensitive Polling Stations 

Ensuring a collaborative approach, the Election Commission and the provincial government will establish a dedicated control room to oversee and manage the election proceedings. Emphasizing the commitment to transparency and impartiality, the caretaker chief minister expressed full cooperation with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

To enhance monitoring capabilities, the caretaker chief minister urged the establishment of joint monitoring rooms in all districts, including the provincial capital Quetta, by Deputy Commissioners and the Election Commission.

5067 Polling Stations in 18 Districts Of Balochistan 

The meeting participants received a comprehensive briefing from Additional Chief Secretary Interior Zahid Saleem and the Inspector General of Police Balochistan. Of the 18 districts in Balochistan, 5067 polling stations are slated for the 2024 elections, with 2055 identified as highly sensitive, 2180 as sensitive, and 832 as normal. A meticulously devised security strategy for candidates, election campaigns, and election staff in Balochistan has also been outlined.

The proactive measures underscore Balochistan’s commitment to conducting a secure, transparent, and fair electoral process, fostering confidence among citizens as the region prepares to cast its votes in the upcoming elections.
