QUETTA: On the crucial election day in Balochistan, the democratic process was disrupted by a series of explosions in various areas, raising concerns about the safety and integrity of the polling process. According to police sources, Gwadar city bore the brunt of the violence, experiencing low-scaled explosions near different polling stations.
Among the incidents, an explosion near the car of Assistant Commissioner Gwadar resulted in slight injuries to two officials, identified as the assistant commissioner’s guards. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the blasts near the polling stations, alleviating fears of potential loss of life.
In the Jewni area, near the polling station of Bandri, an explosion occurred via remote control, further adding to the chaos and insecurity surrounding the electoral process. Similarly, in Pasni City, IEDs detonated at two different polling stations, although police confirmed that no casualties were sustained in these incidents.
The series of explosions underscores the volatile atmosphere prevailing in certain areas of Balochistan, posing significant challenges to the conduct of free and fair elections. Authorities are actively investigating the incidents to ensure accountability and prevent any further disruptions to the electoral process.
