QUETTA: In a proactive move aimed at revitalizing the education sector in Balochistan, the provincial government has set forth plans to terminate over 2,000 habitually absent teachers across the province. This significant decision emerged from a high-level meeting convened by the Education Department, reaffirming the government’s steadfast dedication to enhancing educational standards throughout Balochistan. Chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, the meeting underscored the gravity of the situation and the urgent need for remedial action.

Dearth of Basic Facilities Also Discussed In The Meeting

The gathering, presided over by Chief Minister Bugti, meticulously addressed the myriad challenges besieging government educational institutions, ranging from dismal teacher attendance to the dearth of fundamental facilities in schools. As part of a holistic strategy to breathe new life into the education system, consensus was reached to enlist contract teachers to bridge staffing deficiencies and restore functionality to dormant schools.

Chief Minister Bugti, cognizant of the severity of the circumstances, stressed the paramount importance of accountability and transparency within the education sector. He affirmed that the expulsion of habitually absent teachers would be promptly executed within a stringent two-month timeframe, under the vigilant oversight of the Chief Secretary Balochistan. Moreover, the imminent installation of a biometric attendance system in schools was mandated to ensure rigorous monitoring of teacher presence, with stringent repercussions for any lapses.

LBs Reps To Be Included In Education Groups

In a bid to bolster oversight and accountability mechanisms, Chief Minister Bugti announced the integration of representatives from local bodies into district education groups. This proactive measure aims to enforce stringent adherence to duty among teaching staff and hold local education officers accountable, leaving no room for compromise.

Taking a firm stance against undue political interference, Chief Minister Bugti asserted that appointments within the education department would be strictly merit-based, with zero tolerance for external pressures. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to eliciting practical performance from every echelon of the department, from senior secretaries to subordinate staff.

Bugti To Pay Surprise Visits To Schools

In a proactive endeavor to personally assess the state of schools in remote areas of Balochistan, Chief Minister Bugti disclosed plans for surprise visits to identify non-functional schools. Emphasizing thorough scrutiny, he vowed to rectify discrepancies, particularly in cases where vacancies persist despite the disbursement of salaries to teachers and staff. Chief Minister Bugti further pledged to reclaim school buildings currently under unauthorized occupation, signaling a resolute stance against the misuse of public resources.

The decisions forged during this seminal meeting herald a pivotal stride in Balochistan’s quest to overhaul its education system. With an unwavering focus on accountability, transparency, and meritocracy, the government aims to furnish every child in Balochistan with access to quality education, thereby charting a course towards a brighter future for the province.
