Another woman was tortured to death in Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district. The incident happened in tehsil Deobandi near the Afghan border the other day. The woman tortured to death by her husband in Deobandi tehsil over a domestic issue, Levies sources told the daily Quetta Voice via telephone.
The woman belongs to tehsil Barshore district Pishin and was married to a man in Deobandi district Killa Abdullah, deputy commissioner Pishin, Qaim Khan Lashari told the daily Quetta Voice. “Joint raids are being conducted by Pishin and Killa Abdullah administrations to arrest the culprit involved in the cold-blooded murder”, Mr. Lashari said.
Domestic violence against women appears to be on a constant rise this year. “14 women have been killed since January this year as a result of domestic violence”, Allahuddin Khan Khilji, the director Aurat Foundation said. Last year 11 women were killed as result of domestic violence across the province, he informed.
The woman was the mother of three daughters and married five years back. “Blunt weapons were used by the husband to kill the woman in a very brutal way”, a Levies official in Deobandi who declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter said.
The accused and his family members were about to bury the woman and declare the death as natural, when parents of the ill-fated woman reached and demanded a postmortem. The dead body was brought to Quetta for post-mortem and it was proved that she was tortured to death.
The woman was buried amid grief and sorrows at Barshore. “I want justice for my daughter”, Abdul Razziq, the father of the woman told the daily Quetta Voice with a burst of tears after the burial. No arrest was made by levies till filling of this report. “The culprit must be arrested”, the hapless father with a gray beard who seems to be in his early 50s said.
This incident has almost a week after a woman was killed in a similar incident in Balochistan’s Muslim Bagh area. During 2019, a total of 118 incidents of violence against women were reported across Balochistan, Mr. Khilji mentioned.
