ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday approved bail for former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a recent Toshakhana case.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb presided over the hearing, granting bail on the condition that Khan submit two surety bonds worth Rs1 million each. The court directed Khan to cooperate with the trial court and cautioned that bail could be revoked if he failed to comply.

Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were taken into custody on July 13 after being acquitted in the Iddat case earlier the same day. While Bushra Bibi was granted bail by the IHC last month and subsequently released, Khan has been in detention since August 5, 2023, over a separate Toshakhana case.

In this latest case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) accused the couple of purchasing an expensive Bulgari jewelry set, including a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings, at a significantly undervalued price, resulting in a financial loss to the national exchequer.

This decision marks a key development in the high-profile Toshakhana cases, drawing attention to the allegations surrounding state gifts and their misuse.
