Quetta, Feb 4: The Passengers Coaches Association has declared an indefinite strike in protest against deteriorating security and poor highway conditions on routes from Quetta to Islamabad and Peshawar.

During a press conference, association leaders blamed the provincial and federal governments for failing to protect passengers and drivers from security threats on major highways.

Saadullah Kakar, a leader of the association, stated, an insecurity prevails among passengers and drivers due to the worsening law and order situation on highways.

Malik Majeed Kakar, a leader of the banned Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), also supported the strike, saying, the government has completely failed to protect lives on highways connecting Balochistan with the rest of the country.

The strike is expected to disrupt transportation, affecting thousands of travelers.
