QUETTA: The University of Balochistan (UoB) officially kicked off its Shajar Kari Season 2025, with Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai planting the first tree at the Botanical Garden in Quetta. The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and create a greener campus.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Zahoor Bazai highlighted the critical role of trees in combating climate change, improving air quality, and enhancing soil fertility. “Trees are essential for life. They not only purify the air but also maintain ecological balance. It is our collective responsibility to protect and expand green spaces,” he stated.
The plantation drive will continue throughout the year, involving various university departments, ensuring a sustained effort toward environmental improvement. The university administration has urged students and faculty to actively participate in the campaign.
With climate change posing a growing threat, initiatives like Shajar Kari Season are crucial in fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among youth. UoB’s commitment to a greener future sets a strong example for other institutions in Balochistan.
