U.S. President Donald Trump is set to host Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for a private lunch at the White House—a significant event amid rising U.S.-Pakistan military cooperation and regional tensions with India.

The meeting, seen as a diplomatic win for Islamabad, comes shortly after an Indian delegation met U.S. Vice President JD Vance. Pakistan is framing Asim Munir’s White House invitation as a strong counter-narrative in the ongoing regional power dynamics.
During his five-day U.S. visit, Asim Munir addressed the Pakistani-American community in Washington, condemning India’s cross-border aggression and rejecting its allegations over the Pahalgam attack. “We will never accept dishonour,” he declared.
Asim Munir also voiced support for Iran in its conflict with Israel while aligning with U.S. efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
A key highlight was enhanced U.S.-Pakistan counterterrorism cooperation. CENTCOM Chief Gen. Michael Kurilla praised Pakistan as a “phenomenal partner” against ISIS-K, revealing Pakistan’s capture and extradition of high-profile militant Mohammad Sharifullah.
Despite domestic challenges, Asim Munir emphasised national resilience and praised overseas Pakistanis for their economic role.
